Why test saliva and not blood?
Saliva provides a accurate source of biologically activate hormones. Most of the hormones
in the blood serum are not fully biologically active because they are wrapped in protein
envelops, so they can be carried in the blood. These protein envelops sex hormone -
binding glolulin (SHBG) or cortisol - binding glolulin (CBG).
It is interesting to note that progesterone absorbed through the skin as cream is
already in a biologically active form and is there for immediately available to the cells
